The Unicorn Restaurant of Grafton recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Kevin and Gail Flanigan opened the restaurant on January 28th, 1983. The name was derived from an Irish folk tune and the decor is an eclectic collection of Irish memorabilia and mementos collected over the years. Gail Flanigan initially contacted the Irish Tourist Board for assistance with sources for the interior decor. Kindly, they replied and sent two photographs of Grafton Street in Dublin which she had framed and are in the entrance to this day.

Part of the unique charm of the restaurant has been their original and varied musical and theatrical past. Australian Seona McDowell performed Saturdays for many years as have magicians, a medieval troupe, The Houligans, Bridgid's Cross, and Lisa Spicer. For over a dozen years, The Unicorn Restaurant & Pub pioneered the Murder-Mystery Dinner Theater in this area with "Murder a la Carte." Currently the focus has been the food! The Unicorn combines classic steakhouse favorites with prime rib and a variety of seafood and Irish specialties.

The Unicorn serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. Tuesday - Fridays and dinner from 4 p.m. Tuesdays - Saturdays. The pub is open throughout the afternoon for appetizers and sandwiches.

May good luck be your friend in whatever you do, and may trouble be always a stranger to you.

"May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; The rains fall soft upon your fields And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
